Ireland = amazing. I need to go back again before I leave for the states!
Our adventure started off a little rough; we woke up Friday morning at 3:20 AM and took a bus from Baker Street to Lutin Airport (Heathrow is too expensive for a poor college student like me to fly out of haha) We arrived on time and went through security and waited at our gate for a while. Our flight was supposed to be at 6:00AM. We had printed out our boarding passes the night before so we had them all ready to go. When I was in line waiting to get on the plane the person checking looked at my passport and boarding pass looked at me and said:
airport guy: "where is your boarding pass?"
me: "right here- this is my passport too..."
airport guy: "NO I need your STAMP"
me: (I show him my passport Visa stamp from London customs)
airport guy: "NO you needed to get your boarding pass stamped by security..."
me: "umm didn't know that"
airport guy: "well I can't let you or your American friends on the plane. Sorry. Stand over in the corner so you can be escorted back by security."
me: "so I can't get on the plane?"
airport guy: "NO YOU CANNOT"
So, all four of us were escorted by the security back through because we weren't allowed on the plane. Then we were informed that we cannot get a refund for our flight and we all had to pay 100 pounds (equivalent to $167) to fly one way to dublin. Our flight round trip cost 40 pounds. Life isn't fair sometimes.
We all decided since we were there that we just needed to pay the money and go to Ireland. And let me tell you, it was well worth it!
I had the most amazing time there. We stayed at a hostel in Dublin called the "Kinlay House" and it was pretty gross, but cheap. We got a bus pass and were able to travel all around Dublin and see the sights! It is such a fun and exciting city- I love the people and they are all friendly. We went to the Guinness factory and became "certified" expert of Guinness beer. We also saw St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College (sooo beautiful), and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
We also went out to a great dinner of fish and chips at The Porterhouse, and went to a fun bar called Flannery's where we met some fun Irish local boys which was fun!

hahahaha love this! so i'll be sure to get my boarding pass stamped by security when i arrive on that side of the world.
